Shop Compostable Packaging by Material

Mother Nature’s Engineering Department: Shop by Material
Let’s cut straight to the chase: traditional takeaway containers are built from fossilized, ancient sludge. We call them Dead Dinos because petroleum-based plastics take hundreds of years to fracture into toxic microplastics that poison our planet.
At The Pure Option, we don’t look under the earth for our raw materials—we look across it.
Welcome to our Shop by Material hub, where we have organized our entire eco-packaging inventory by the incredible, renewable plants that power them. Every single material in this section is completely plastic-free, certified compostable, and engineered to survive hot oils, freezing temperatures, and heavy delivery runs.
Explore our plant-based building blocks below to find the perfect fit for your menu:
Our Plant-Powered Materials Lineup:
Sugarcane Bagasse (The Insulation Superhero)
-
What it is: Pronounced "buh-gass," this is the fibrous stalk residue left over after the sugar industry crushes sugarcane to extract sugar juice. Instead of burning it, we press it into heavy-duty burger boxes, meal trays, and soup bowls.
-
The Superpower: It is a complete thermal genius. It naturally breathes so hot food doesn't sweat or go soggy, traps heat beautifully for deliveries, and can handle a wild temperature spectrum from a freezer (-10°C) straight into a hot commercial oven (300°C).
PLA Corn Starch (The High-Gloss Plastic Pretender)
-
What it is: Polylactic Acid (PLA) is made by extracting natural starches from agricultural corn industry waste, fermenting it, and transforming it into clear, rigid bioplastic resin.
-
The Superpower: It looks, feels, and behaves exactly like clear plastic—giving your layered sundaes, fresh salads, and cold drinks maximum visual visibility on display counters—but contains zero oil and is fully commercially compostable.
Sustainable Wood & Paperboard (The Carbon-Capturing Classics)
-
What it is: Ultra-thick card, paper, and timber utensils sourced strictly from certified, responsibly managed forests. For every tree harvested, a group of young saplings are immediately planted to take its place.
-
The Superpower: Trees are nature's ultimate vacuum cleaners, capturing and locking away carbon for free. Our wooden cutlery and thick paper soup pots offer premium structural stiffness, natural greaseproof resistance, and are completely certified to international eco-standards.
Glassine Paper (The Frosty Panini Guard)
-
What it is: 100% wood pulp paper that has gone through a high-pressure mechanical roller process called supercalendering, which collapses the paper fibers into a tight, glossy, semi-translucent sheet.
-
The Superpower: Because the fibers are squished so tightly together, glassine is naturally air, water, and greaseproof without needing a plastic laminate layer. It is perfect for hot cabinet pastries, cookies, paninis, and loaded hot dogs.
EcoPond Vegetable Starch (The Dirt-Loving Disposables)
-
What it is: Advanced organic polymers made from the natural starches found in common vegetables like spuds and maize, used to create flexible films and hygienic barriers.
-
The Superpower: This is the muscle behind our heavy-duty kitchen bin liners, food waste caddy bags, and latex-free food prep gloves. It handles wet, messy food waste easily without leaking, and is certified fully home compostable, breaking down into soil in your backyard bin.
The Pure Loop: True Circular Sustainability
Because all of these materials are derived from pure plant matter, they solve the major flaw of the packaging world: grease contamination. While traditional cardboard recycling networks reject greasy fast-food boxes, our materials can be thrown directly into organic food waste streams, turning safely into nutrient-rich soil biomass in under 6 to 12 weeks.
